Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in the attic of her home, and becoming fascinated with the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. They encouraged her not to play music only for fun or for the sake of development but instead, she should explore it. This led to her began writing her own music. Her sources include noted writer Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love of Bjork's style. Her mother had said that her songs can not only aid in her efforts to get noticed, but also make others see their importance within the global community and see what can be done with her songs, she decided to begin singing in public. The piano was first played by her when she was just six and started writing songs at the age of nine. It was not until she turned 14 that she revealed her plans to her parents. Aurora has never imagined becoming a star. The only thing she loves is writing music. The music she writes is her way of feeling everything.
